We had quite the whirlwind holiday this year..... After planning on spending Christmas here in Sparta without all the kids (they couldn't all get enough time off work to make the trip) we made some last minute changes and all flew to Arizona so we could all be together.
Of course it was the typical Rosenkrans family vacation..... We raced down to Philly airport on Dec 23 to catch a late nite flight to Phoenix- and Jim went to park the car in long term parking and ended up missing the flight. So......... we landed in Phoenix at midnite without him. Made the trek back up to Sedona and came back down the next nite (Christmas Eve) to pick him up at midnite. It was nuts.
We did manage to all get into our matching pj's tho
a tradition the kids refuse to give up. Scott always says "now it's Christmas!" when we get them on! And since I couldn't find jammies to match for Ali, I handstamped hers and sewed ribbons on (actually they were to hide my mistakes!) but they came out cute- just gotta love that about stamping- fixing a mistake can improve the project!
Another longstanding tradition is our Christmas stockings. My mom and I made them about 10 years ago and I don't know what we were thinking when we did.... They are HUGE and the kids say it's their favorite part of Christmas morning. They were so surprised to see them under Marc's tree- they didn't think Santa would be able to bring them to Arizona (Santa used our 2 biggest suitcases which housed nothing but these stockings!) So, of course, when the kids are happy then I am happy...
And we did manage to take these traditions to a new level this year.... We went out for dinner in our pj's! Yes, we got a lot of looks, but I am sure it's because everyone else was jealous they hadn't thought of it first....
All in all, amidst the chaos and running around we celebrated this holiday as a family.... And that's what Christmas is all about anyway, right????
